Mark T. Coppenger Library

Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
Kansas City, Missouri

After several decades faithfully serving the Midwestern Seminary community, the main campus library at Midwestern Baptist Theological Library required a complete renovation to meet the needs of today’s undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, as well as faculty, staff, and administration.

The library is approximately 14,000 SF arranged on three floors. The first floor was transformed into a model 21C library, including centralized service desk, reader space, browsable collections, staff work area, meeting and collaboration rooms, and a faculty research center. The second floor provides a quiet study area for doctoral students and adjunct faculty, while the third floor is reserved for print collections and institutional archives. Library interiors were selected to create a welcoming environment that expresses excellence, but not opulence, consistent with Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s brand and values.
