Ellis Library

University of Missouri
Columbia, Missouri

Higher education academic library reading room exhibit room

PGAV’s history with Ellis Library at the University of Missouri began in 1987 with the completion of a major addition to the library and renovation of portions of the existing facility and continued with construction of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the library’s High-density Offsite Storage Facility in 2001 and 2019. In fall 2020, the University engaged PGAV to perform feasibility studies for a new Central Service Desk, collocated Special Collections, University Archives, and Digital Services and relocation of the University Museum’s Art, Archeology and Anthropology collections to Ellis Library. These studies lay the groundwork for projects that will address short - and long-term space needs within Ellis Library including: refining and prioritizing the library’s master plan goals and objectives; evaluating the master plan’s recommendations for both the central service desk and special collections; determining upgrades to the building’s MEP/FP systems; developing concepts and estimated implementation costs; strategic goals for optimizing functional space; exploring concepts for converting existing tier stacks into temperature/humidity controlled collection space suitable for the library’s special collections and archives; and fundraising support. PGAV’s scope of work includes updating the library’s master plan and providing basic architectural and engineering services for master plan implementation through 2025.
