Miller Nichols LIbrary 4th Floor Student Success Center

University of Missouri-Kansas City
Kansas City, Missouri

In recent years, the University of Missouri-Kansas City has welcomed its largest freshman classes in school history. To accommodate a growing enrollment and higher expectations for student success, UMKC has implemented several initiatives, such as First Gen Roos, Culture of Care, and Roo Wellness, among others, to better foster student success. As these and other initiatives took hold, it became apparent that the existing facilities used for student success programming were insufficient. A renovation of the fourth floor of Miller Nichols Library was completed to support the following student success functions: Undergraduate Research, Escalators Program, Bloch Scholars and KC Scholars, Academic Support and Mentoring, Peer Academic Leaders, Men of Color Academy, and Shared/Common Spaces. These improvements aim to foster exploration, collaboration, innovation, and discovery, providing students with the resources and support needed to achieve their academic goals and reach their full potential.
